SANDRINGHAM LIONS CLUBSandringham, Victoria, Australia |
Sandringham Lions Club runs an Annual Art Competition in the "En Plein Air" tradition.
In Bayside we have a wealth of art created from this style of painting by the artists of the Heidelberg
School in the late 19th and early 20th Century.
Frederick McCubbin, Arthur Streeton, Tom Roberts, Arthur Boyd, Clarice Beckett,
to mention a few artists who chose their subject matter around Bayside as reproduced on display boards
along the Coastal Art Trail, from Middle Brighton following the coastline to Beaumaris.
Port Phillip Bay features beaches, cliffs, harbours, fauna, sparkling water scapes, water sports, boating, yachts,
fishing, buildings and people, many diverse subjects, unique to Bayside.
Who was Syd Packham? Find out here.
It is normally held in March, occasionally April.

En Plein Air is an approach to painting made famous by the French Impressionists.
Painting to capture the effects of light, colour and vision in an artwork completed on the spot
remains extremely popular in France and Italy today. Our fi\rst EPA was in 2005.
