Our Nursery commences a new year in early February, after the Christmas close-down. Despite being closed, Lions will have watered the plants to keep them going during the hot weather.
Now is the time to finalize arrangements for En Plein Air.
MARCH:
March is when we run our outdoor art show, En Plein Air. It is currently being held at the Sandbeach Centre. Registration by artists commences proceedings. The artists then have a week to prepare their works and the following weekend is judging and display for sale. APRIL:
The makeup of next year's committee must be decided.
Lion's Week is celebrated by Clubs joining together to put on a large event which will publicize the good work Lions do.
MAY:
Disbursements Committee meets to decide on donations.
We often man the barbecue for the Great Billycart Race, put on by the Highett Neighborhood Community House.JUNE:
Changeover Dinner - hand over to the new committee.JULY - SEPTEMBER:
- Prepare for the Plant Sale in October.
- Purchase the goods to constitute the prize(s) in the raffle.OCTOBER:
The first weekend in October is when we have our GIANT PLANT SALE at our Nursery.
This is also the time when we commence raffle-ticket selling for our major fund-raiser of the year. Raffle ticket selling continues most weekends from early October to Mid-December.
We usually assist Family Life by manning the gates at the Open Garden Day which they run each year around this time.DECEMBER:
Our raffle concludes around the middle of December.
We also put on a Christmas Party / Barbecue for the children of Interchange Southern and their Carers at the Scout Hall.
The Triathlon Season starts about now, and Sandy Lions are involved in marshalling for them. This activity runs through to late March.
